QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Hold a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate for grades 6-12, with an endorsement in math.
  2. Demonstrated research based instructional strategies in math.
  3. Demonstrated background of success in working with students outside the classroom.
  4. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with students while inspiring and motivating excellence in student performance.
  5. Experience and or training in developing authentic assessment strategies in middle school classes.
  6. Demonstrated willingness and ability to positively collaborate as a member of a teaching team.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to professional achievement and growth.
  8. Possess natural abilities, good communication skills, flexibility, sense of humor, and love of teaching.
  9. Demonstrated ability to modify instruction, curriculum and assessment to meet a wide range of student abilities and learning styles.
  10. Demonstrated ability to write student-learning outcomes, design instructional lessons, and assess student performance in ways, which successfully teach and measure district curricula as well as WA State Performance Expectations.
  11. Demonstrated experience with technology for mathematics classroom use, e.g. productivity tools (email, word-processing, and student data), formative assessment tools, and interactive dynamic mathematics learning tools.
  12. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and flexibly with administrators, staff and families to determine and achieve school goals and develop a positive school climate.
  13. Demonstrate willingness and ability to utilize research based practices to improve classroom math instruction.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  1. Works collaboratively with math teachers to provide continuity in the math program.
  2. Develops and modifies math program to meet individual needs through differentiated instructional practices.
  3. Develops positive techniques for improving student behavior and maintaining order appropriate to a productive learning environment.
  4. Provides assistance and guidance to individual students.
  5. Reports regularly to families in written form and responds to parental concerns by telephone.
  6. Maintains student records including daily grades, attendance reports, and others as required.
  7. Participates in both short and long-term instructional planning, which will include writing daily lesson plans.
  8. Enforces school rules and monitors student behavior in non-classroom settings.
  9. Participates in staff meetings and works constructively with other department members to evaluate current offerings and to make needed improvements.
  10. Tolerant of ambiguity, flexible in a climate of change, willing to commit extra time and effort to meet shared

  goals.

  1. Participates in learning and supporting all school initiatives including MTSS and PBIS work.

Bargaining Unit: Port Townsend Education Association

 

Salary Range: DOE, 2024-25 $60,000-$116,667

 

BENEFITS:

Benefits include Sick Leave, Personal Leave, Medical, Dental, Vision, AD&D, and Basic Life insurance coverages.  Retirement is through the WA State Department of Retirement, plans available: TERS Plan 2 or TERS Plan 3.
